This Tuesday the Vancouver city affordable housing task force are meeting to discuss the idea of creating cheaper housing for renter and buyers that include building housing on the city's thinner streets, the West End could be one area that it is tested also included are Marpole and the Grandview - Woodland areas.  The idea and the aim is to take thinner less used streets in those areas and to create up to 10,000 affordable new homes, if approved the pilot project would focus on areas close to Skytrain stations and significant bus routes first.  The idea for the thin streets project was one of seven winners of a city contest aimed at generating new ideas for cheaper housing and this idea was the favourite of Vancouver's city Mayor Gregor Robertson.

What are your thoughts about this project? Do you want it in your neighbourhood?
